What in the world is a person supposed to do when they press the open button on their garage door remote and the door doesn’t open? If this has ever happened to you then you already know how frustrating this can be. You can be sure that our technicians are fully aware of the simplest ways to relieve you of this problem. In many cases it is the garage door opener that is the issue. If the lock feature is on then it will cause problems opening and closing your garage. If your garage door opener has a light on it that is constantly blinking when you are pressing the remote, pay attention to the wall remote to be certain that the lock feature is indicated. It will disable all of the remotes connected to your garage door. When there is a green light blinking on your wall remote it means that the lockout feature is activated. Just hold and press the lock button for up to 2 seconds and this will disable this feature.
Sometimes you can experience RF interference from a neighbor’s remote control. This can occur when you press your very own remote and your neighbor may not even realize it. The interference that you are experiencing from someone else’s remote can be difficult to find. In order to troubleshoot the problem, you can hold the remote a couple of feet away from your garage door opener and press the remote-control button again. If the remote starts working again while you are holding your remote close to the garage door opener this means that the problem is definitely an RF interference issue. Motion sensors, security lights, electronic game consoles or an alarm system could cause this. When the cause of your RF interference has been resolved, you should be able to go right back to using your remote as usual. In some instances, it is possible for you to have an antenna installed so that the remote will work like it should without interference from anyone else’s devices. If you are unable to find the problem on your own then it might be best to simply give our garage door technicians a call to help determine what the problem is. Since they have the necessary skills and qualifications needed to detect the problem, they should be your first source of relief. You can certainly try to determine the problem yourself but it would be less time consuming simply by relying on a qualified technician.
After removing your remote closer to the garage door opener and you are still experiencing a problem, then you’ll need to continue to trouble shoot. What this means is that there could be more than one problem. The remote may need to be reprogrammed because it lost its link connection to the opener, you might have a manufacturer’s defect or it could be a bad battery. If you need a new logic board then this can also present a problem with the way that your garage door is acting.
When you are continuing to experience problems with your remote check the batteries. We realize that this sound too simple to be the problem but, in most cases, believe it or not, it is. Check your LED light. Sometimes it can be up against something or it could be that the battery is dead. If you’re not sure which batteries you should have installed, your owner’s manual will usually show you which ones to use for your specific opener. The only way to be certain that this is the problem is to replace the batteries. If this doesn’t resolve your issue then it will be necessary for you to continue to troubleshoot.
If you have tried all that you can and you’re still not having much luck, the problem is likely your logic board. You have probably lost the programming line that connects it to the garage door opener. The only way to solve this problem is to have your garage door remote programmed again. If you are trying to do it yourself but aren’t having much luck then erase the codes by holding the LEARN button down for 6 seconds or until the LEARN button light turns off. After reprogramming the remote attempt to use it again to see if this has resolved the issue.
If you have done all of this and you’re still having trouble then it’s time to reset the logic board. Just unplug your opener to reset the logic board. Hopefully this will be the answer to your problem.
